San Martino di Castrozza

A few miles away from Fiera di Primiero at 1450 meters above sea level, lies San Martino di Castrozza, which owes its origin to an ancient religious institution, the Hospice of St. Martin and St. Julian, stopping place for travelers that, through Passo Rolle, came from Primiero to Fiemme valley, or vice-versa. The village lies on a green meadow basin surrounded by peaks of Pale di San Martino: Cimon della Pala, Rosetta, Sass Maor, peaks of Val di Roda, Cima della Madonna and, on the other side, Cavallazza and the porphyry peaks of Colbricon. To the south are visible the group of Vette Feltrine with the pyramidal shape of Monte Pavione. In summer is ideal for lovers of mountaineering and high-flying hikings, in winter offers great opportunities for lovers of alpine skiing, snowboarding and nordic skiing.
