Trentino Dolomiti: Lago di Calaita

Passo Rolle - Trentino

Located in the municipality of Siror along the highway 50 of "Grappa and Passo Rolle" is an alpine pass at 1984 m above sea level that connects Primiero and San Martino di Castrozza with other Dolomites valleys (Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa).

The pass is surrounded by the group of Pale di San Martino. To dominate the area we find in particular the "Cimon della Pala" (3186 mt.) known as the "Cervino of Dolomites" and the "Cima Vezzana" (3192 mt.), the highest mountain in the group of Pale. From pass, starting point of ascents on Pale and on Group of Lagorai, you can quickly reach the lakes of Colbricon, places of settlement of hunters in Neolithic era, and "Val Venegia", one of the most beautiful natural areas of Trentino, part of the Natural Park of Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino.

The mountains around Passo Rolle were theater of the World War I and the locations of the trenches are still visible along many paths (including a stretch of the famous Path of Peace).
