Passo Rolle - Trentino
Located in the municipality of Siror along the highway 50 of "Grappa and Passo Rolle" is an
alpine pass at 1984 m above sea level that connects Primiero and San Martino di Castrozza with other Dolomites valleys (Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa).
The pass is surrounded by
the group of Pale di San Martino. To dominate the area we find in particular the "Cimon della Pala" (3186 mt.) known as the "Cervino of Dolomites" and the "Cima Vezzana" (3192 mt.), the highest mountain in the group of Pale. From pass, starting point of
ascents on Pale and on Group of Lagorai, you can quickly reach the lakes of Colbricon,
places of settlement of hunters in Neolithic era, and "Val Venegia", one of the most
beautiful natural areas of Trentino, part of the Natural Park of Paneveggio-Pale di San
Martino.
The mountains around Passo Rolle were theater of the World War I and the
locations of the trenches are still visible along many paths (including a stretch of
the famous Path of Peace).

Do not miss:
- Baita Segantini (Segantini Shelter): "forced" destination for mountain tourism. His position puts it at
the center of a multitude of paths that wind in every direction. From here it is above
reachable Val Venegia, the refuge Mulaz, the "Castellazzo" and "Punta Rolle".
To reach "Baita Segantini" is possible to leave the car at Passo Rolle and climb on foot
for the dirt road through "Capanna Cervino"; the distance from the pass is 3 km and the
height difference is 200 meters. The journey is approximately 40 minutes/1 hour.
Alternatively, just in summer, is running a bus shuttle service departing from Passo
Rolle every 40 minutes.
- Colbricon Lakes: easily reachable in 30-40 minutes by a easily path, they lie between
Rolle Pass and Colbricon Pass, the eastern end of Catena del Lagorai immersed in a
typically alpine scenery of rhododendrons, junipers, pines and larches Cembri .
Around small Colbricon Lakes and in other surrounding areas, were found testimonies of
settlements of hunters of the Mesolithic (8.000-5.000 AC), attracted by the wealth of
fauna of this places; during the excavations were brought to light flint, tips of spears,
arrows and reports of their camps.
- Val Venegia (Venegia Valley): is one of the most delightful corners of the Dolomites, flagship of
Natural Park of Paneveggio - Pale di San Martino. His name is linked to Venice:
in the age of Serenissima the logs of forest Juribrutto were transported to Passo Valles,
which began their long journey towards the river though the city of the Doges.
- Visitors Center Natural Park Paneveggio- Pale di San Martino: located not far from
"Forte Buso" Lake, along the highway n.50 that from Passo Rolle descends to Predazzo, the
center of the Park "Ground-Forest" tells of the great homonym forest of spruce pine, now
known as the "Forest of Violins". Even today, as the once famous Stradivari, the most
famous italian and european luthiers in the forest to select the best specimens of sounding
spruce pine needed to construct harmonics boxes of musical instruments.
Not far away from the center is the faunal area of deer that allows you to observe
closely a group of these ungulates. From the visitors center start a nature trail
with led and explained observation points.
